Siemens Aero-derivative Gas Turbines (AGT) is currently recruiting a Control Systems Engineer within our Technical Services function. Reporting to the Head of Package Solutions Engineering, the successful candidate will based at the services headquarters in Warwick and will work with a diverse team of engineers across the AGT organisation.
What are my main responsibilities?
•Own and run Safety and Reliability investigations and fleet improvement programmes; gathering and analysing fleet data to identify common or reoccurring issues, make use of recognised and appropriate Root Cause Analysis techniques, documenting and report findings appropriately, prepare and present potential solutions and improvement opportunities to the business while working to challenging time scales.
•Develop Industrial Control System software solutions and updates for retrofit to specific projects, identifying scope, managing external resources to time and budget, developing and executing Verification and Validation strategy. Document site installation, additional modifications and testing procedures in order to efficiently communicate with field service and customer representatives during the software commissioning phase.
•Support Modification & Upgrade projects with regards to requirements capture, solution development and project execution, and this may involve occasional travel to customer project sites.
•Author relevant Technical Documentation such as Troubleshooting Guides or Service Bulletins.
•Work with our regional based Technical Support teams and Operational Service Desk in supporting customers with urgent operational issues which require specialist Product or Engineering knowledge.
•Travel overseas and offshore may be required on occasion in support of main responsibilities
What do I need to qualify for this job?
•A degree or equivalent professionally accredited or recognised in an engineering discipline preferably relating to the fields of Controls, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and Software.
•Working experience with industrial controls systems applications and industrial IT networks, specific experience with Allen Bradley RS Logix5000, Siemens S7, Intouch Wonderware, WinCC would be advantageous or having worked with similar products used for the control and protection of industrial gas turbine technology or general process plant operations.
•Ability to troubleshoot and effectively communicate findings, with an appreciation of cultural differences that comes with a global customer base.
•Working knowledge of change/configuration management tools and processes, as well as experience with other IT related tools and software for business analytics and project management.
•Use of simulation and system modelling tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink or similar) and programming languages (e.g. Python, C/C++, Visual Basic, etc.) would be advantageous.
•Experience of working with industrial aero-derivative gas turbine technology or similar industrial products for Oil & Gas or Energy industry would be advantageous, but experience from other industries with transferrable skills could also be considered.
•Practitioner of a Systems Engineering approach to product improvement is highly desirable.
•Strong communication and reporting skills in English is essential, and any other languages would be advantageous.
