Job Description:

Intern will support the SHS IT G PPM (Governance Program and Project Management) team. During this phase, the focus will be on project risk management and project management support topics. Intern will review data quality of existing projects and coordinate improvements, complete monthly project management KPI reporting, and ad hoc reporting.

The overall goal is for intern to learn about the key tenants (processes and tools) of project management basics (management of scope, schedule, budget, risks, resources, communications, suppliers, quality, stakeholders, team operations). The intern may also be involved in quality and process management. It is expected that he will achieve an understanding of the basics and then build upon these basics to more advanced levels over time. The intern will learn how to: - Organize and prioritize topics - Communicate effectively and across time zones - Gain enhanced problem-solving and communication skills

Intern will be included in all cultural events (summer barbecue, holiday party, charitable events, diversity events, IT showcase events). Philadelphia and the surrounding area are rich in cultural events year round that we can take advantage of (as the “birthplace of America”). Philadelphia also has professional sports teams for football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer (so sporting events are available year round. Philadelphia offers options for the performing arts – e.g., concerts, opera, ballet, and theatre. In addition, we are in close proximity to beaches, Amish communities, New York City, and Washington DC which are also popular sites for interns when they visit the US. We will plan events based on intern's personal choices and interests.

The intern will also improve critical thinking and problem solving; Communication skills; Organization and Execution; Project Management skills (risk, financial controlling, scope, schedule, quality, resources, suppliers, team operations, etc.)

Intern will be observing the application of PM tenants and processes in various projects. He will have the opportunity to provide his opinions for continuous improvement. He will participate in operational meetings at the portfolio level to understand how all projects fit to the company goals and principles. He will be able to assess and provide feedback to improve data quality for project processes, metrics, and measures. He will help provide overall project management support, data quality, and review. Training: Interactions and shadowing of Governance project management and operations resources, some self-study and some live training events, and active participation with project teams. He will also participate in job shadowing, online training, and various meetings.

Intern will have the opportunity to learn the basics of project management process/tools/skills across the global IT portfolio of projects.

The intern will also participate in regular standing meetings and through participation with operational and project teams. Since he will be participating with project managers and project teams, he will have an opportunity to gain feedback from them as well. These meetings will take place monthly or as needed.

The intern must be organized and should have a desire to use analytical skills, to be results oriented and work well as part of a team by building strong relationships.Quality and precision should be forefront in everything they do.
