Job description

How do you shape the future through manufacturing? We are looking for the decision makers of tomorrow, the bright, cool headed apprentices with the drive to question and help shape the future. Siemens Magnet Technology (SMT), based in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, is part of the Siemens Healthineers Division and is a world leader in the design and manufacture of super-conducting magnet systems for MRI body scanners. Annually SMT make over 1100 magnets and a third of all MRI systems in the world contain superconducting magnets made at SMT.

We are looking for ambitious individuals to join our three year Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme, commencing in September 2018.

What are my responsibilities?

• You will join one of our teams within Manufacturing Operations, which is responsible for the production of superconducting magnets. You will gain experience across all areas of production, but will develop specialist skills and knowledge within one area.

• You will report to one of our Cell Leaders and your training will be supervised by a qualified assessor.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• You should have, or be working towards 4 GCSE’s at Grade C or above which must include, Maths, English Language and Science.

• You must be keen to learn and have an inquiring mind and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for your work and our business.

• You will possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to enable you to work within a team focused environment.

• You must be able to produce accurate work that is to strict specifications. An interest in ‘making things’ is essential.

• You should be able to demonstrate your interest in activities outside of your school life e.g. Duke of Edinburgh, Scouts, Guides, sports teams etc.

What else do I need to know?

Your first year will be spent training at college, followed by day release for the second & third year. During years 2 & 3 you will also gain onsite manufacturing experience. We will familiarise you with our site and operations prior to you starting college.

Depending on business requirements and the performance of the individual, there are opportunities to progress to NVQ Level 3 qualification and beyond, including Higher Education.
