Based at our site in Newcastle, Siemens occupy an enviable engineering heritage which extends back 130 years. We are looking to recruit committed and enthusiastic people with a strong interest in engineering.

The Challenge

You will attend our bespoke programme at Tyne Metropolitan College, on a full-time basis for 9 months. Followed by 9 months spent in our Training Centre in Newcastle working towards your NVQ Level 2.

After this, you will be placed in various departments throughout the Facility and atcustomer sites throughout the UK working towards your NVQ Level 3. You will receive training and practical experience, the sort that will help you understand our methods, resources and procedures. You will then complete a final placement in order to complete your NVQ Level 3.

Our Advanced Apprenticeship is for aspiring individuals who are keen to start building up work experience while progressing academically within an engineering environment. You will be required to work alongside employees of all levels therefore a flexible 'can do' approach is important - together with a disciplined approach to timekeeping and attendance. To complete the Advanced Apprenticeship programme you are required to achieve multiple qualifications which demand a high level of motivation and the commitment to study and complete work in your own time. You must be able to work away from home and be flexible with work placements.

The candidate

· Possess a strong commitment and enthusiasm to the role and the apprenticeship
· Strong interest in engineering and technology
· Good manual skills and the ability to operate machinery
· Good level of computer literacy
· Care and attention to detail, adhering to all health and safety requirements

GCSE&'s or equivalent at Grade C or above which must include Mathematics, English Language and a Science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics). Level 2 in ICT is an advantage. If you have previously completed a BTEC qualification or equivalent in engineering you must list all individual units and grades if predicted or achieved.

On completion of the apprenticeship, and subject to a good training record, this could lead to a full-time position in your chosen career. Throughout our business there are opportunities for progression within our Operational areas and in a variety of other functional disciplines.
