Project Engineering Automation Internship

Job description

We are looking for a 6 months intern to join our team from January to June 2020. This position is only available for students who have valid students pass/ permit from Universities in Singapore.


Working with Engineering Manager (EM) and Project Engineer (PE), PEI is expected to study the current project engineering processes, and then create a software suite with VBA AND Java or Python that can be used to automate tasks that are currently being done manually or semi-automatically by Project Engineers and Project Managers.

Example of tasks that can be automated:
- Perform project engineering calculation
- Generate application logic test procedure for Process Safety Critical application
- Generate project schedule in MS Project based on data from MS Excel
- Generate project documentations based on MS Excel tables and MS Word template
- Perform data scrapping from multiple MS Excel files into a single MS Excel spreadsheet
- Perform web scrapping and present the data in MS Excel spreadsheet
- Perform PDF data scrapping and present the data in MS Excel spreadsheet

The intern will work closely with EM and PE in the entire process of software suite development. Starting from understanding of existing processes, identification of tasks to be automated, define requirements, prototyping, testing, refining and launching of the software suite.

Minimum iterations are expected. Requirements of the software suite can be refined, depending on the capabilities of the intern.
For example: if the intern is familiar with AutoLISP, the software suite can be expanded with Automatic AutoCAD drawing generation tool. If the intern is familiar with SQL, database function can be added to the software suite.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

- Possess good knowledge of VBA programming
- Possess good knowledge of either Python or Java is advantageous
- Able to use formula, data validation, pivot table, chart functions, form
- Possess knowledge of web scraping, PDF data scraping
- Able to work in a diverse and dynamic team
- Fast learner, independent and resourceful in finding solutions to problems.
