POSITION SUMMARY

Obtains correct parts, chemicals, and materials from designated locations and places them into barrels, tanks, furnaces and/or similar equipment.

Platers operate, maintain, and control processes and equipment to produce coated, plated, and treated parts of proper quality. Inspects parts to specifications and secures first piece approvals before running jobs. Operates and services waste treatment equipment. Maintains solutions used in operations. Loads, unloads, weighs, identifies, and transports parts and materials. Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Places materials, parts, and supplies in proper locations when not in use.

The plater handles plant waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in a manner which will insure compliance with local, Nebraska Department of Environmental Control (NDEC), and EPA regulations. Hazardous waste handling may include any of the following: Drying wastes, containerizing waste, moving waste in-plant, and offering wastes for shipment.

Platers work independently to meet shift production requirements, maintain the production line, and secure the production area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ability to meet production requirements and retain part quality.
· Ability to work safely, use good judgment, and work well around others.
· Ability to write and count in order to keep track of parts and log them.
· Ability to read and understand technical information.
· Ability to do simple multiplication and division.
· Ability to follow special safety procedures.
· Ability to operate a computer.
· Must have the ability to communicate, including verbal and written English.
· Ability to make critical decisions.
· Trouble-shoot basic machine problems and make effective corrections and adjustments.
· Use basic and special physical test and inspection equipment.
· Ability to pass pulmonary fitness test which is required for respirator training.
· Maintains regular attendance in accordance with the current Attendance Policy.
· Record and document production.
· Operate a forktruck (must successfully complete forktruck certification).

Qualifications :

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Experience: Previous work experience preferred, but not required.
Must pass a physical assessment.
Must be able to work 1st shift hours (6:30am-2:51pm)

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

·  Continuous standing and walking.
·  Occasional kneeling and squatting while applying force.
·  Frequent forward flexion with load or force applied.
·  Frequent trunk rotation.
·  Bilateral upper extremity use is applying force and not applying force is frequent.
·  Gripping, grasping, lifting, carrying, positioning of bins, bags, trays, and controls is frequent.
·  Upward extension of arms is occasional.
·  Forward extension of arms is frequent.
·  Bi-lateral elbow flexion and working with raised elbows in a lateral position is frequent.
·  Lifting a load to shoulder height is occasional.
·  Lifting, lowering, pushing, and pulling of loads is occasional.
·  Counterbalancing with opposite arm outstretched while carrying a load (ex. bucket) is occasional to rare.
·  Single arm reach and upward extension to operate plating line controls is occasional. Climbing a 3-5 step ladder is occasional to rare.
·  Occasional stepping up two (2) seven-inch riser steps.
·  Manual lift objects up to 58 lbs.
·  Push, pull or slide barrels that weigh up to 135 lbs.
·  Visual inspection of work is required
·  Ability to wear hearing protection, steel toed shoes and safety glasses at all times and other personal protective equipment as required.
