Job description

TITLE: SECURITY ENGINEER Level 1

REPORTS TO: Project Manager
SUPERVISES: No reports or direct supervision, will provide feedback to PM/FSS. Will need to collaborate with Technicians, system representatives, coordinators and subcontractors.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Software, network and hardware engineering efforts to New England branch security team. Software/Network/Hardware Engineering efforts, reports to Project Managers, collaborate with other engineers, techs and coordinators. Conducts testing/staging of products in software lab.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

· Security Software/Network Engineering- Assist with implementation and repair of software and network solutions for construction and service initiatives. Mentor other engineers. Programming of various security equipment including but limited to: Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion detection, Intercom, Network equipment, Servers, Workstations. Support customers and projects remotely and on site.

· Hardware Engineering - Manages the engineering process to design and engineer systems in the most cost effective manner while maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. Heavy emphasis on value engineering. Heavy emphasis to develop MFLs, improve efficiency and profitability. Ensure uniform branch engineering standards are followed. Insures compliance with CPP.b, Collaborate with other parties to ensure proper deployment of designs.

· Conducts engineering job process to include coordination with project and service team activities. When required by management, will configure, design and engineer systems in the most cost effective manner while maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. As needed will customize standard software from core team or existing standards library. Responsible for customer approval of detailed job submittals and asbuilts created for the project.
· Will assist Techs with the commission and checkout process

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

· Assists in training new employees or Co-ops.
· Must accurately bill to Projects/ Work orders, ensure required utilization
· Other duties may be assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in engineering and three years of work experience or equivalent related work and engineering experience. Two to three years experience within the construction technical industry. Familiar with construction trade labor practices. Ability to effectively represent SE and communicate with customers and others at varying levels.

• Four-year (4) degree in a related technical field or related work experience
• Demonstrated ability to engineer small to medium projects
• Excellent understanding of Security, Access Control, CCTV or other building or
electronic control systems.
• Proficient in software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel,
and Visio.
• Intermediate-level knowledge in application programming languages.
• Knowledge of computer network architecture.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of product and outside vendor hardware.
• Advanced knowledge of service procedures and tactics.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and improve customer relationships through consistent
delivery of highest level of customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability
to relate technical terminology to customers, listen effectively, persuade and influence
decision-makers, and solicit input from others.
