Drayton is one of UK's leading heating control brands and part of Schneider Electric, a global technology group focussed on helping customers make the most of their energy. Drayton design and manufacture products to enable energy efficient heating systems for the domestic market.
The business has a turnover of €80m, and employs 400 employees, at 2 major manufacturing sites, Plymouth, UK and Nuremberg, Germany. Over the last 3 years there has been a strong drive towards digitization of the business around the portfolio and routes to market.
You mission:
We are looking for an electronic engineer to join our design engineering team, developing and sustaining internet-connected and non-connected residential heating control products. This person will be an integral part of the team, taking ownership of electronics through all stages of the product development lifecycle.
Your main responsibilities:
§ Feasibility study, design, build, test, and deliver electronics, taking ownership from concept to launch
§ Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to develop and optimise solutions
§ Follow processes, procedures, and guidelines; challenge where appropriate and identify improvement opportunities
About you:
§ Degree in electronics engineering or similar, with some industrial experience
§ Sound understanding of product development life cycle
§ Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, DFMEA, testing to compliance standards
§ In-depth knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems, 32-bit microcontrollers, mains power converters, RF design, ZigBee, WiFi, sub-GHz
§ Appreciation of design for — manufacture, test, assembly, EMC, and cost targets
§ Experience using: Pulsonix / other eCAD tools, agile methodologies, JIRA, Confluence
§ Strong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision
