The Research department at Sanofi – Rare and Neurologic Diseases is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Hemophilia and Musculoskeletal Disorders group. The position focuses on the purification and analysis of a variety of proteins to support preclinical research programs. The incumbent will be an integral contributor to research project teams and will work within a multi-disciplinary environment. The position is located in Waltham, MA and will relocate to Cambridge, MA in 2022.
Skills and Knowledge:
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated hands-on experience in the downstream processing of culture medium and the chromatographic separation of proteins, as well as associated analytical techniques. The candidate will evaluate protein quality using complimentary techniques. Familiarity with the purification multi-specific antibodies and antibody-protein fusions is desirable. Specific skills required for this position include:
Expertise with standard chromatography methods (IEX, SEC, HIC, IMAC, affinity) and fluency with the theoretical concepts underlying each of these methods, as well as AKTA chromatography systems and Unicorn software.
Hands-on experience with SDS-PAGE, spectrophotometric protein quantitation and western blotting.
Basic experience with one or more of protein analytical methods such as SEC-MALS, DLS, and Octet.
The ability to independently troubleshoot and proactively address challenges in protein purification through methodical process development.
Highly developed documentation skills, including the use of electronic notebooks and data management applications, and good communication skills.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in mastering new methods and technologies, and contribute to a research environment in which innovation and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is desirable.
Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 4 years of protein purification experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master’s Degree plus minimum 1 years of protein purification experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.
