Sanofi’s Immuno-Oncology Therapeutic Area based in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Senior Principal Scientist PhD with significant experience in Immuno-Oncology (IO), with an emphasis on NK and T cell deep biology.

As an enthusiastic and self-motivated senior principal scientist, you will develop and advance cutting-edge therapeutics by driving scientific innovation, excellence and rigor.

In the organization, you will work autonomously, pro-actively, and be an impactful contributor and leader of project teams and transverse initiatives to progress new drug candidates in the IO portfolio. You will manage a team of scientists to design and execute in vitro studies supporting progression of new drug candidates in the IO portfolio. You’ll demonstrate continuous growth of personal scientific knowledge and understanding of strategic goals of the group, team and company. You have excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with other teams in the multidisciplinary matrix, as well as with internal and external partners. You have a strong background and proven track record of publications in the IO field.


·  Lead transverse projects, define the strategy, planning, coordination of activities and their execution in alignment with the IO global strategy
·  Develop and implement new primary cell immune assays to reach deep mechanistic understanding of disease pathogenesis and confidence in target rationale
·  Provide scientific expertise & innovative ideas; review data and publications to support analysis of mechanisms and pathways; monitor and provide critical assessment of competitor results
·  Lead a team of research associates and scientists: provide scientific support and promote their career development
·  Manage transverse relationships with collaborators within and outside IO to advance projects
·  Seek and monitor external scientific collaborations, with academic and industrial partners
·  Assess external opportunities in the IO field
·  Present projects internally to key stakeholders and externally at international conferences
·  Provide and promote support for operational procedures according to Sanofi values, ethics and security
·  Prepare publications, research and preclinical/regulatory documentation in accordance with Sanofi quality standards


·  PhD in immuno-oncology and international post-doc with proven track record of scientific publications
·  At least 5 years of biotech/pharma industry or academic relevant experience in immuno-oncology
·  At least 2 years of experience in people management and in transversal coordination
·  Strong and relevant expertise in cancer cell biology and immunology within particular knowledge on NK cells. Knowledge in T cell biology and/or myeloid cells is a plus
·  Knowledge on hematological malignancies and/or understanding of research and drug development processes are welcomed
·  Experience in primary cell culture, immune cell assay techniques, multi-color flow cytometry and mechanistic studies of immune regulation
·  Excellent communication for high level work presentations and good coordination skills to work effectively with other teams in the multidisciplinary matrix and with partners
·  Experience in leading multidisciplinary matrixed teams
·  Excellent written and oral communication skills, with English (writing and speaking) required
·  Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
·  Flexible, curious, and agile, able to rapidly acquire Scientific and technical notions relative to new project
