Principal Scientist , Lab Head- Protein and Antibody Production and Characterization

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join a team dedicated to the generation and characterization of milligram to gram quantities of recombinant proteins to support exciting early discovery and preclinical research projects spanning multiple therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for expressing, purifying, and characterizing recombinant proteins and antibodies, for providing protein production and biochemical expertise input to project teams, and for guiding select projects within the biologics research organization. The incumbent will be expected to provide technical oversight, to develop strategies and technologies to conduct experiments and analytical procedures, to present data in well-organized written and oral formats, and may have managerial responsibility for junior staff in the protein production group.

Basic Qualifications

·  Requires a Ph.D. degree in the life sciences with a minimum of 8 years relevant industrial/pharma experience or Bachelor or Master degree with significant relevant experience (minimum of 15years) and accomplishments
·  Expertise in mammalian cell transient transfection and protein purification is essential
·  Past lab experience must include hands on experience in at least three of the following: automated protein purification using systems such as AKTA or similar, work with challenging protein formats such as multi-specific antibodies or fusion proteins, immunoblotting, ELISAs, protein quantitation assays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), bio-layer interferometry (BLI), FACs, electroporation and stable cell line or pool development
·  The candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects working transversely and in a collaborative team environment, and prior experience managing, mentoring and developing junior scientists

Preferred Qualifications

·  A strong background in the molecular aspects and biology of antibodies, analytical techniques for the characterization of recombinant proteins and antibodies, and/or experience with cell line engineering/genome editing using CRISPR-cas9 are decided assets
·  A track record of developing and/or accessing and employing new technologies relevant to the field of protein expression and characterization
·  Strong publication record
