Job description



Sanofi is committed to researching, developing and marketing therapeutic solutions that focus on the needs of patients. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent scientist to pursue postdoctoral training in early drug discovery through cutting edge research. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a senior mentor to execute a research project in the field of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. A particular focus will be devoted to unveiling novel mechanisms regulating microglial homeostatic function. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for a genome-wide genetic loss-of-function screening in a human cellular model using a CRISPR/Cas9 lentiviral guide RNA library; as well as for the functional validation of the screening gene hits. The position will involve working with scientists within the therapeutic area and in the global technology research platforms to execute the project. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to publish the work in leading peer‑reviewed scientific journals and to present the work in scientific conferences and internal meetings.

The fellow will receive training in a dynamic, matrixed and fast –paced environment devoted to drug discovery and development and will benefit from interactions with leading academic groups. The Rare and Neurologic Diseases Research Therapeutic Area at Sanofi is located in Boston, USA and Chilly-Mazarin, Paris, France. The position offered will be based in the Neurodegeneration Research unit in Paris

Qualifications and Skills:

·  PhD in immunology, neuroscience or molecular and cellular biology.
·  Experience with functional genetic screening using the CRISPR/Cas9 system and in working with lentiviral vector libraries would be a distinct advantage.
·  Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for Next Generation Sequencing data analysis would be a distinct advantage.
·  Expertise in FACS based cell separation would be a clear advantage
·  Expertise in inflammation and innate immunity with a focus on biochemistry, cell and molecular biology studies of immunoregulatory pathways would be highly appreciated.
·  Outstanding track record of research accomplishments, including publications from doctoral thesis work in reputable journals is a requisite.
·  Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required.
