Position Overview: Genomics Scientist, Precision Oncology – Molecular Profiling

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for applying scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design, direct and execute experiments and/or studies in support of research and/or development project and company drug discovery goals. Analyzes, interprets and presents results. Demonstrates continuous growth in depth and breadth of personal scientific knowledge and understanding of strategic goals of group, team and company. Works independently, pro-actively, and is an impactful contributor to project teams to:

· 
Extract DNA/RNA from human tissue samples. Perform Bioanalyzer, Tapestation, NanoDrop, qPCR or ddPCR, and other molecular biology techniques to analyze DNA and RNA products.

· 
Perform sequencing library preparation reactions including various QC steps, either manually or using high throughput liquid handling robots.

· 
Perform sequencing and library preparation reactions including single-cell RNA-Sequencing and various QC steps, either manually or using high throughput liquid handling robots.

· 
Operate and maintain Illumina sequencing machines.

· 
Troubleshoot abnormal results with minimal oversight and feedback.

· 
Participate in development new genomic assays, including but not limited to NGS.

· 
Create and update standard operating protocols for laboratory-based methods.

· 
Enter experiment information into a laboratory notebook and LIM system.

· 
Communicates basic lab needs to Lab Head for both technical and administrative issues.

Basic Qualifications :

· 
Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics or related science field and 8+ years molecular biology laboratory experience required.

· 
Direct experience with Illumina sequencing technologies is required including 1+ years of hands-on experience with Illumina library preparation methods – experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing a plus.

· 
Ability to prepare and follow SOP is required.

· 
Excellent attention to details and dedication to excellence.

· 
Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary, dynamic and results-oriented environment.

· 
The position also requires an ability to communicate effectively to colleagues and staff across multi-disciplinary areas, while contributing to a high-quality and respectful work environment.

· 
A successful candidate is expected to have superior technical and operational skills and the proven ability to work on a variety of high-level, individual-contributor projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

· 
Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics or related science field  and 5+ years molecular biology laboratory experience required.

· 
PhD plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.

· 
Experience in developing or optimizing NGS assays is highly desired.

· 
Some bioinformatics analysis capability for sequencing analysis using tools or pipelining is a plus.

· 
Hands-on experience operating an automated liquid handling robot (e.g. Bravo).

· 
Previous work in a clinical diagnostics laboratory.

· 
Experience in developing or optimizing FACS immunophenotyping assays is highly desired.
