Role Summary/Purpose
In this new role inside MR Engineering organization, the Data Scientist will support the engineering teams across segments and products addressing statistical, machine learning and data understanding problems to drive improved product quality. In this role, you will contribute to the development and deployment of modern machine learning, operational research, semantic analysis, and statistical methods for finding structure in large parametric data sets, system logs and device history datasets.
Essential Responsibilities
Duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Create, develop and maintain statistical algorithms needed to support analysis and strategical decisions for MR fleet management.
2. Identify opportunities for design improvements by performing retrospective analysis of historical machine log data vs service dispatches, apply statistical and machine learning techniques to provide insights on data patterns, asset usage, and design characteristics to funnel product quality improvements.
3. Produce statistical analysis of the data to support product quality improvement decisions.
4. Produce data visualizations to demonstrate learnings and opportunities that support a wide range of stakeholders.
5. Collaborate with Software and Hardware engineers to identify and address gaps in MR system monitoring.
6. Collaborate with Software engineers to improve data quality including but not limited to data file structure, data formats and units, and frequency of logging.
7. Collaborate and learn from peers within the Imaging business to ensure we leverage best practice and reduce duplicative work.
8. Work with business and technical leaders to prioritize data needs and define new process improvement opportunities.
9. Develop applications including remote monitoring and diagnostics across infrastructure.
10. Develop, verify, and validate analytics to address customer needs and opportunities.
11. Work alongside software developers and software engineers to translate algorithms into commercially viable products and services.
12. Work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields.
2. 5 years relevant work experience
3. Experience utilizing statistical analysis tools (Python, R, etc.)
4. Experience using data visualization technologies in Kibana, Spotfire, Tableau, Python, R, Javascript
5. Experience with extracting data from large databases (SQL, Hue, Postgres, Hive QL, Lucene, etc.)
6. Demonstrated skill in data cleaning, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment
7. Excellent presentation and communication skills, with ability to lead and influence multiple audiences
8. Experience in the full data science lifecycle, from business understanding to model operationalization
9. Excellent teamwork, coordination, influencing and communication skills
10. Ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems
11. Ability to lead global teams in fast-paced cross-functional environments

Desired Characteristics
1. Ph.D. Degree in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
2. Experience with the Elastic technology stack
3. Familiarity with cloud systems (AWS, Azure, etc.)
4. Familiarity with big data technologies (Data Lakes, NoSQL databases, Edge computing, etc.)
5. Background in healthcare, pharma, or diagnostic imaging industry
6. Knowledge of GE Healthcare MR Products
7. Knowledge of GE Healthcare engineering tools and processes
8. Knowledge of the GEHC Quality Management System
