Department Description

The Downstream Purification Scientist position is part of Process Science Laboratory Group in Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT). The Process Science Laboratory group within MSAT is responsible for providing laboratory based technical support to Sanofi manufacturing facilities world wide. The main objectives are to drive next generation process development and support key strategic initiatives (such as Facility of Future) and lead Tech transfer, scale-up development and adaptation, control strategy implementation, process validation, comparability for Specialty Care biologics introduction at Sanofi and external Industrial sites.

Responsibilities

·  Hands on experience and scientific knowledge of protein purification (IEX, HIC, Affinity and SEC) and filtration (TFF and NFF) techniques.
·  Technical expertise at bench-scale with a focus on using small scale purification models to optimize and troubleshoot purification, TFF and filtration unit operations.
·  Operate and troubleshoot purification and filtration equipment such as AKTA PUR, Purifier, Pilot, AVANT and Crossflow.
·  Experience with DoE concepts and tools desirable (i.e. JMP analysis).
·  Diverse leadership skills that will require to work as a team lead but also as independent contributor when projects specify.
·  Analytical problem solving skills with the ability to identify process trends and develop experiments to evaluate trends.
·  Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
·  Written, oral and presentation skills are essential.
·  Sets ambitious tangible and measurable targets ; takes personal responsibility for achieving results; reviews and evaluates progress against agreed targets, timelines and budgets.
·  Shares information and seeks input from outside direct team. Develops strong cross functional relationships and partnerships with science and commercial manufacturing organization.
·  Makes decisions when needed even if outcomes are difficult, accepts accountability for results and makes choices using sound judgment.
·  Understands meet and exceed internal and external customer expectation.

Qualifications

·  MS, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or relevant field and 0-2 years of experience
·  BS, Biotechnology Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or relevant field and 0-3 years of experience
·  The individual must be highly motivated to work independently, or in a group, and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
