• This role is responsible for providing business and consultative support for establishment and attainment of annual and long-term expense and strategic goals.
• Interpret and administers policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant Novartis Financial Control Manual or NFCM requirements according to NFCM schedule, including internal and external regulations (e.g. SOX requirements) for a specific facility or function.
• Supports the Alcon division reporting by preparing financial reports from management and Novartis Group, consolidating Alcon division operating results, compliance efforts, performing accounting research, performing ad hoc analysis of operating results and other data, assisting with Alcon division annual operating and strategic plans, and other duties as assigned.
• Performs economic research and studies subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, investments, and financial and expense comparisons by analysis of profit and loss statements and income statements.
• Prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management.
• Develops, maintains, and establishes operational specifications for financial information systems considering such things as information flow, volume, and document format for data processing equipment.
• May provide analysis on business development and may monitor business performance by unit, division or brand.
• May assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of Alcon division in accordance with Novartis accounting policies (based on IFRS).
• Tasks include supporting Novartis Group with respect to internal and external reporting.
• Maintain SOX compliant work papers on all activity.
• Reconcile and analyze certain accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, including maintenance of subsidiary submission schedules, input system security and databases.
• Solve complex accounting issues independently and with other members within the group.
• Perform accounting duties for certain corporate entities or expenses.
• May also assist in monthly forecasting process.
• Drive improvements in forecasting processes and systems.
• Support decision making processes, providing clear and timely financial management information, including Return on Investment appraisals, Performance monitoring, Assistance and advice on investment appraisals, responsible for the financial aspects of Capital Acquisition Requisitions (CARs).
• Design, maintain and test business processes in line with internal control and SOX requirements, ensuring BPA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are up-to-date and accurate.
• Ad-hoc planning and analysis projects.
• Provision of financial education to business partners.
• Serve a backup to other Global Analyst positions.
