Job Description
Responsible for all strategic, tactical, operational and technical resource management for the Data related functional areas. These include:
Business ownership of data systems:
Ongoing management of the various data environments – working with offshore colleagues, IT groups and external vendors
Ensure that the environment is enhanced in a timely manner, is within the budgets allocated and is of high quality
Perform investigations and drive resolution for any identified issues
Continue to drive strategy and vision for the data environments
Data Governance:
Manage Data Governance - GRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) aspects of Business data management
Investigate and identify new data sources to identify viability of integrating them in the data systems
Define and implement operating procedures and processes for the accurate and compliant handling of business data and processes – including providing relevant visibility to appropriate business groups
Manage and coordinate Data Quality and validation effort across the data platforms
Drive Training and education around the contents and use of the data systems
Work closely with the DS&E Strategy Leads to support their BU requirements using the data systems
Work cross-functionally with PLS-US, BUs, Legal, Ethics & Compliance and Regulatory colleagues to define appropriate use of data systems
Business Rules and Metadata Management:
Maintain and manage Business rules and pre-processing for data systems
Maintain and manage data dictionary of subject areas, objects and attributes
Coordinate Business rules across various BUs and across critical processes – such as Incentive Compensation, Field Reporting, etc.
Review & prioritize Business Rule changes
Investigate and identifying opportunities for business rule standardization
Continuously evaluate and (implement, if relevant) latest market trends in managing business rules
Data Delivery:
Manage data delivery through Oracle and SAS environments
Ensure data delivery is consistent and is of the highest quality
Provide timely communication around availability of data and any issues identified within it
Perform Data exploration & ingestion using Data Profiling tools
Be the SME on the data environments

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
At least 3 years of experience with business data management
Advanced degree in a related field a plus – Quantitative discipline or Management
Strong understanding of Pharmaceutical Data including - Syndicated data vendors (IMS, Symphony); Specialty Pharmacy and Hub data; Distribution data; Auxiliary data (Formulary, Clickstream, Marketing data)
Deep understanding of Pharmaceutical industry functions such as IC, Compliance and their reliance on data
Advanced understanding of Data systems and tools – Relational databases, SAS datasets, Querying Tools, Data Analysis tools, Data Science
Strong understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Warehouse solutions
3+ years of Pharmaceutical industry experience
Proven leadership abilities
Outstanding quantitative skills
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork & collaboration skills
Ability to work and achieve objectives independently and as part of a team
Proactive approach to meeting business needs and identifying business opportunities
Ability to translate Brand strategy and goals to execution using the Data environment
Cross-functional collaborative approach to analyses
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Awareness of Data Governance considerations
