General Description
The Tax Specialist I (Income) is primarily responsible for the preparation and filing of the Federal and State income tax returns of Samsung Electronics of America, Inc. and its US affiliated tax group members. The position is also responsible for the preparation of the Samsung group's monthly/quarterly/annual income tax provisions as well as providing support to Tax Management as needed, assisting with federal/state/local income tax audits, preparing and processing of quarterly estimated tax payments. The candidate must be able to work and think independently seeking ways to improve tax compliance processes without increasing the tax risk to the company. Duties & Responsibilities: • Prepares Federal and Combined State Tax Returns for Samsung and its Affiliated Group including the determination of all Permanent and Temporary Timing Differences and Adjustments. • Prepares Samsung and its Affiliated Group's separate State Income Tax Returns including the determination of all State Adjustments to be applied against Federal Taxable Income. • Prepares monthly and quarterly income tax provisions including effective tax rates for Samsung Affiliates. • Prepares Estimated State Income Tax calculation & payments • Prepares State income tax extensions • Prepare and maintain state apportionment work papers. • Reconciles and Analyze Income Tax accounts • Assists Tax Management with IRS and state income tax audits • Communicates with various jurisdictions regarding state notices. • Special projects as assigned • Responsible for Timely and accurate filings/updates. • Implementation of Leading Practices • Recommend process improvements for Federal and State income tax reporting. • Research and provide guidance on Federal and State income tax issues. • Advise affiliates on state tax issues and filing procedures

Desired profile

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree in Tax or CPA a plus • 1-3 years of experience in the area of Tax compliance and provisions. • Solid experience with the utilization of OneSource tax software • Tax Accounting FAS 109/IFRS experience. • Strong Microsoft Office skills; advanced Excel skills are a must • Experience with SAP accounting system preferred • Good communication skills, as it is necessary to communicate often with people from the federal and local jurisdictions, as well as with Samsung employees throughout the U.S. • High level of detail-orientation • Must be able to work independently with decision making skills
