General Description
This position is responsible, under minimal supervision, to provide the technical field return failure analysis of mobile devices launched in North America, especially for cases of product liability. Assist in the concept, development, preparation and critical review of technical reports, technical documents, test procedures, user guides, installation and maintenance manuals. Using common Project Management principles, this role will manage multiple projects, update required reports and keep management apprised of all defect symptoms and trends. Common Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Individual contributor who will use the theoretical and professional training to follow the established processes to perform and deliver the technical analysis and reports. • Participate in field return failure analysis of all of mobile devices, especially for product liability case. Analysis will include both non-destructive and teardown techniques. • Assist in detailed analysis and reporting of potential problems to R&D and other pertinent personnel based on findings. Participate in collaboration with engineering team to improve next generation reparability and enhance the product quality. • Report, Communicate and Support related management team with the findings and data of the failure analysis. • Support the lab manager to ensure and investigate user environment, including site visits, to validate and root cause failure analysis. • Interface with Product Management to deliver product condition and specification. • Using relevant technologies (X-Ray, CT, SEM, EDS) to reproduce failures and perform a root cause analysis. Background/Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree or above. Degree in Chemical or Material Engineering preferred. • Minimum two years experience with selection, maintenance and application of electronic and test equipment (spectrum analyzers, X-Ray, CT, SEM, EDS) preferred. • Prior experience in the telecommunications industry preferred. • Strong Project Management skills and the ability to prioritize in a complex working environment. • Comprehensive use of Microsoft Office applications operating in a Windows XP or NT LAN/WAN environment. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects. • The ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with multiples levels within the company and with external contacts including customers, authorized service agents, sales & equipment service representatives, etc. • Must be able to provide technical clarification. The ability to gather and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs and tables of information and to plan and prioritize multiple work assignments. • The ability to read, provide written critical technical review and prepare reports, technical manuals, test procedures and technical product repair information. • Excellent English language competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external communications. • Work under very little supervision and guidance to identify and ensure achievement of production team goals and to complete individual work assignments within established time frames.

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• Work generally performed in an office, lab, warehouse, or user environment. • May operate PC and product test equipment between 50% - 100% in an alternating sedentary and highly mobile position. Lift, move, or adjust general test equipment, boxes, supplies, materials or products weighing up to 50 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures. • High level of visual acuity, numeric/character distinction and moderate color distinction for accurate test equipment operation, for information analysis and error recognition. High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills to perform electronic component repair work. • Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with electronic component test, assembly and repair work including test equipment, testing devices, technician hand tools, cables, etc; first aid kit is available and prescription safety glasses are required in certain test areas. • May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
