General Description
Summary / Overview: The Facilities Controls Engineering team at Samsung Austin Semiconductor is currently a 12-person strong group of dedicated engineers and technicians supporting all of the mission critical facility control systems that keep 2.3 million square feet of high volume semiconductor manufacturing space running at its peak performance. Specific Job Duties: • Design applications and control strategies to meet requirements utilizing process and instrumentation drawings, logic diagrams, specifications, and supporting documents. • Candidates will be responsible for hardware design and programming in either Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or Siemens Step 7. • Take ownership of one or more control systems to operate and maintain all control equipment from the field devices through the control and monitoring equipment. • Identify, develop and design control panels, improvements and upgrades to control systems for enhanced system functionality and reliability. • Work with engineering system owners, as clients, to improve control of their systems or solve control issues. • Request contractor quotes for new projects and create reports to get project funded. • Report performance trends/issues to management and recommend solutions. • Develop standard operating procedures and train Facilities Control personnel on all new systems. • Define control system maintenance requirements and procedures. Incident Prevention and Repair: • Safety automation and standardization for creating HVAC, IWT, and UPW processes and operator interfaces for operating facilities systems safely • Online operator safety documentation to provide additional guidance and system information to the operators, available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week • Leak detection alarm and interface optimization to verify strict adherence to specifications and providing notification of any discrepancy • Document and report near miss events through 8D process • Track all open action items to completion and closure

Desired profile

Necessary Skills / Attributes
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum # Years Required: • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering • Professional Engineering or EIT license a plus • 3+ years working at an industrial manufacturing facility (preferably in Semiconductor Manufacturing). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, Tools: (List MOST important requirements first. Then list soft skills and desired (but not required), experience. • Siemens Step 7 or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix programming, professionally trained preferred. • The preferred candidate will have strong experience developing initial software code for control systems, not just modifying only previously-existing code. • Experience in design, operation, and maintenance of industrial control systems. • Strong data and system analysis, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent organization skills, persistence, good judgment, and attention to detail. • Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus and Kepware experience a plus. • AutoCad and FactoryTalk View HMI experience a plus.
