Process Engineer – British Gypsum – Sherburn In Elmet, Nr Leeds

Part of the Saint-Gobain group, British Gypsum is a market leading manufacturer of gypsum-based building materials from insulation, wall lining dry boards and plaster to ceilings and floors.  Our products shape modern interiors for the commercial, residential and off-site sectors of the construction industry. 

In this role you will join a small performance improvement team, driving continuous improvement projects through the adoption and implementation of best available technologies, World Class Manufacturing philosophies and the tools and techniques associated with Focussed Improvement. You will be tasked with delivering key metrics across an area of the plant to include safety, sustainability or energy reduction, product throughput, product quality, production speed, and yield.  We are seeking a driven, ambitious, and curious Process engineer and an advocate for customer success and best practice across plant operations.   In return, you will receive continued investment and training to support your personal development and skills to include where appropriate development through to chartered status. 

Key Accountabilities:

·  Champions health and safety standards, behaviours and improvements.
·  Quickly develop into a key member of a multidiscipline performance team tasked with delivering improvement projects to plan and budget.
·  Production data collection and analysis to identify opportunities for improvements across the workshop K.P.I.’s including energy efficiency, capacity, yield, and availability.
·  Use of problem solving tools within the team to determine the root cause of plant issues and to put effective and sustainable countermeasures in place.
·  Adopt methodologies and other appropriate techniques aligned to TPQM to reduce process variation and improve product quality.
·  Effective investigations into quality defects to prevent reoccurrence. 

What kind of person are we looking for?

·  Educated to Degree level in Chemical Engineering or a similar science / engineering discipline
·  Excellent communication skills to all levels within an organisation
·  Proven experience in delivering improvement projects
·  Experience in the practical application of TPQM techniques such as Six Sigma, statistical analysis and quality tools
·  The ability to organise a prioritise your workload to meet the needs of the business
