Job description
Join Safran's Research & Technology (R&T) team for a summer internship focused on advancing new materials and developing innovative processes to support the evolution of our fabrics and composites programs. As part of the group's ongoing strategy to remain at the leading edge of aeronautical materials technology, you will contribute to the identification, analysis, and prototyping of next-generation solutions.
Support Safran's Research & Technology (R&T) activities on composite materials, contributing to the evaluation, testing, and industrialization potential of innovative composite solutions for advanced applications.
But what else? (advantages, specificities, etc.)
Support the identification and evaluation of innovative composite constituents (e.g., reinforcement fibers, resins, prepregs, core materials, surface treatments for bonding).
Contribute to benchmarking of new composite systems against mechanical, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
Participate in the assessment of composite manufacturing processes (e.g., infusion, RTM, prepreg lay‑up, automated fiber placement, compression molding).
Assist in process trials and help document process parameters and outcomes.
Assist in physical and/or chemical testing of composite materials and laminates (e.g., mechanical, thermal, aging, and damage tolerance tests).
Perform data analysis and comparisons with technical specifications and sustainability targets, providing clear conclusions.
Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and sustainability teams to ensure composite developments support Safran's development roadmap.
Contribute to technical notes, test reports, and presentations to support decisions on future R&T projects.
Candidate skills & requirements
Ongoing studies towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Composite Materials, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated interest or coursework in composite materials, polymer matrices, and/or composite manufacturing processes.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and summarize technical data.
Team-oriented mindset with good written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in English.
