Role Summary/Purpose

The Technical Writer will be responsible for the creating, updating and maintaining Technical documents for GE Automation and control products. Join GE’s Automation & Controls talented and innovative Technology team and unleash your creativity and your software skills to deliver the next generation of controllers to our customers.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Join the GE Intelligent Platforms Technology team and use your Technical Writing skills to create, update, and manage our documentation for our next generation Automation Controller product lines 
·  Collaborate closely with our development and customer service teams to provide easy to understand technical documents for our customers. 
·  Plan, estimate, and manage the generation, publication readiness, and delivery of documents in accordance with Program/project requirements. Manage multiple document updates over a given period. 
·  Ensure documents adhere to established format, quality, and accuracy standards. 
·  Post new and updated documents to online repositories and network archives. 
·  Strong writing skills, namely a command of grammar, syntax, diction, and the conventions and best practices of writing a variety of technical documents.
·  Fundamental collaboration skills: ability to work with other writers and cross-functional peers. 
·  Fundamental knowledge of core technical communication concepts, such as topic-based authoring, minimalism, task-oriented design, single-sourcing.  
·  Understanding of core information development processes: content planning, content creation, and content review.  
·  Fundamental skills with the authoring tools used by the information development teams. 
·  Ability to follow established information patterns to create information deliverables. 
·  Ability to work to deadlines and think critically about the task at hand while maintaining an understanding of the relevance of the issue in the bigger picture.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
·  Minimum of 2 years of Technical Writing experience

·  Ability to collaborate with all levels of staff 
·  Proficient with Adobe Acrobat 
·  Advanced MS Office Skills
·  Experience with PLC’s and Software tools 
·  Ability to generate and/or modify custom vector and raster graphics/pictures 
·  Starts with the user’s perspective when working a problem
