The Summer @ Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Program Requirements

·  Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during program calendar year 2019
·  Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.
·  Must have a ≥3.0 GPA
·  Minimum availability of 12 weeks (Required start on or before program Welcome Reception and end date on or after Summer End Poser Symposium).
·  Previous experience in the job duties listed, either through course work or industry/academia
·  Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience

Responsibilities

Usability Engineers at Roche Tissue Diagnostics (RTD) participate in the design and execution of usability studies. They collaborate closely with other UX functions, engineering, product managers and data scientists from initial research and design concepts through the execution of interaction and visual design. UX/UI designers support and refine the product user experience, look, feel and style through user research and/or design improvements.

Main Project

Conduct a User Experience Audit of an existing software product;

·  Map information architecture
·  Diagram user workflows for specific tasks
·  Prepare documentation and/or present materials
·  Conduct a detailed review and provide improvement recommendations for the User Interface

Additional experiences:

·  Observe and participate in ongoing UX project work as it applies to large scale software product design
·  Collaborate with and shadow Senior UX Engineers

Qualifications

·  On a degree path with a major in UX design, Usability Engineering, Interaction Design, Human Factors, User Interface Design or Graphic Design
·  Knowledge of Use Scenarios and User Journey Maps
·  Experience with software user interface design and/or development
·  Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
·  Portfolio that demonstrates the above

What you will learn

User Experience design methods:

·  Creation and value of a screen flow map / software screen hierarchy
·  Scenario and Storyboard creation
·  Product and Project management as it pertains to UX design

Application of User Experience design and Usability Engineering to medical devices and software.

Given the current uncertainty of the global pandemic and work from home situation for 2021, the majority of internships are currently planned to be virtual with the option for interns to work remotely from within U.S. Borders. Internships that operate in business critical roles, such as Operations and Research & Development may require you to work on campus. We will keep candidates informed if this changes.​
