We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented individual to support development of complex consumable devices based at Roche's site in Santa Clara primarily for nanopore sequencing technology across the Roche Molecular diagnostics business. This role will be responsible for implementation of the equipment and process to the prototype manufacturing line for product development of consumable devices. The candidate will work closely with the design and process development teams, global operations and outside OEMs as a principal member of the team to implement, optimize and maintain the equipment and process for scale up of global commercial launch.

Responsibilities:

· 
Participate in the development, installation, testing and configuration of the prototype equipment and the subsystems

· 
Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining, and inspection processes to improve product quality, increase part throughput, decrease cost, and strengthen safety measures

· 
Author and perform acceptance test, validation protocols including steps for IQ, OQ, PQ, and reports

· 
Collaborate and support process development of new and existing production equipment sets

· 
Develop and coordinate equipment qualification including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK) and Gage R&R

· 
Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new equipment instruction manuals, spare parts lists, operating procedures, maintenance procedures and other important documents are received, written to standards and updated to reflect any changes

· 
Work with engineering and production teams to maintain and ensure continuous operation, including assistance during unit operational upsets

· 
Develop systems and layouts that follow lean manufacturing philosophies of one piece flow with emphasis on mistake proofing

· 
Lead and direct meetings with other team members

· 
Manage tooling and gauge design and drawings

· 
Provide training and guidance to all employees in the operation and maintenance of new equipment

Qualifications:

· 
Minimum education: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· 
3+ years experience in manufacturing automation or similar role

· 
Experience installing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining machinery / equipment

· 
Read and work to the specifications detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly printer, blueprint, equipment manuals, etc.

· 
Ability, willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15%)

· 
Knowledge of machinery fundamentals including pumps, fluidic systems, etc.

· 
Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing skills and concepts (cycle time analysis, quality control, equipment efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, etc.

· 
Lean manufacturing practices

· 
Tool and fixture design

· 
Design and application knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards

· 
Must be detail oriented, effectively handle multiple priorities, have a strong quality mindset and have the ability to meet tight deadlines

· 
Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
