As a member of the Roche Sequencing Solutions (RSS) Global Operations MSAT (Manufacturing Sciences and Technology) team, you willensure equipment uptime by providing technical support to multiple Reagent Manufacturing laboratories in the Santa Clara GMP facility. Primary areas of responsibility will include implementation, optimization, maintenance, troubleshooting, adaptation of manual processes, and testing of automated processes in Sequencing Operations.

Additional responsibilities include implementing Roche standards and methodologies, documentation, and troubleshooting a wide variety of equipment including automated liquid handlers, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, and other general laboratory equipment. Works cooperatively in a busy laboratory environment, responding to change with flexibility and adapting quickly to evolving circumstances. Ongoing support for transferred processes will be necessary, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This role is part of a highly skilled MSAT team that is dedicated to providing excellence in manufacturing across all the Global Sequencing Operations manufacturing sites from California to South Africa.

Responsibilities

· 
Calibrates and performs preventative maintenance on process and laboratory instrumentation/Roche Brand equipment. Meets all schedules for calibrations and preventative maintenance.

· 
Installs, maintains, calibrates and validates mature automated clinical instrumentation (Roche Brand Equipment).

· 
Notifies Department Management when any instrument/equipment is nonconforming and follows up to ensure a timely response to the issue.

· 
Assists/Leads in troubleshooting and/or repairing of instrument or equipment problems and resolving difficult problems in creative ways. Uses discretion and independent judgment to consider and determine appropriate solutions / actions. Performs unscheduled calibration/preventive maintenance activities as needed to support owning departments.

Maintains technical department files (e.g. specification sheets, manuals).

· 
Maintains department supplies required for performing calibrations/preventive maintenance, as applicable.

· 
Coordinates with RMS department contacts to ensure timely calibration and/or preventative maintenance of instruments and equipment.

· 
Participates/Leads in internal/external teams and relationships.

· 
Performs training as required.

· 
Performs calibration / preventive maintenance reviews / approvals, as applicable. Creation of Master Data Templates, as applicable.

· 
Creation of equipment/instrument calibration/preventive maintenance SOPs, as applicable.

· 
Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

· 
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or related field. Electronic technical training and a minimum of 7 years work experience in pharmaceutical/medical device/biomedical calibrations, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

· 
Typically requires 3 - 7 years job related calibration experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or medical device) with basic knowledge of instrument support.

· 
ISA Level 1 certification preferred; 5+ years in medical device industry, preferably “hands on” experience with medical instrument maintenance. Excellent inter-personal and customer relation skills
