Position Summary:

The Engineer will design and build software applications mainly destined for the Analytical Operations (AO) group. Primary responsibility will be application development (UI/UX/database) to create data rich applications for managing assay requests, execution, result analysis and delivery of summary results.

This position builds, maintains, supports and upgrades software applications that are part of the process data management associated with experiments run in the Analytical Operations Labs in South San Francisco. The developer coordinates with a diverse group of stakeholders including Analytical Operations team members, Pharma Informatics and Process Development IT group to maintain, design, implement, test, and successfully deliver software applications that meet user's needs.

Responsibilities:

·  Design and development of software applications.
(Either in unison or in concert with others depending on the size of the project)
·  Support, maintain and upgrade software applications
·  Work well in a cross functional team and have effective written and oral communication skills
·  Contribute to development of system/architecture roadmaps to meet business requirements and implement enhancements to support realization of the roadmap
·  Create/author system design and maintenance documents and keep them updated
·  Create/author user manuals and conduct training for end users
·  Execute data management and disaster recovery procedures for applications
·  Execute application performance tuning and optimization
·  Execute application user account management
·  Troubleshoot and resolve problems associated with the applications

Qualifications:

·  B.S or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree
·  3-7 years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer
·  Full stack developer capability
·  Experience with more than one programming language Java, JavaScript , SQL, Object Orientated Programming, Python,
·  Familiarity with SQL Server data warehouse and reporting applications.
·  Good understanding and experience developing applications for cross browser applications
·  Good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and its role in NTFS security a plus.
·  Experience with application performance optimization, caching technologies a plus
·  Experience with handling time series/high volume data for representation a plus
·  Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or Spotfire a plus
·  Basic understanding of Biotech development processes a plus
·  Ability to listen, understand and document user needs and translate them to powerful software applications
·  Ability to learn fast, keep up with software development tools and technologies and select/implement the right technologies to meet user needs
