We are seeking a Product Engineer, Consumables Engineering in the consumable device development team in characterizing and developing methods suited for medical device products for surface, bulk, mechanical, dimensional and material phenomenon critical to enable nanopore based sequencing application as well to discover correlations between in-line parametric, measurement data and process parameters with final sequencing results. This position will build a deep intuitive knowledge of the sequencing workflow, surface analysis techniques, with the capability to customize the workflow and develop novel metrics to further the organizational understanding of consumable device design impact on sequencing data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· 
Execute failure analysis investigations, risk impact assessment, and root cause investigations.

· 
Support development and documentation of procedures and processes needed within the sequencing system

· 
Plan and execute experiments to identify, understand, and control parameters critical to quality (CtQ)

· 
Design, prepare, and execute a wide range of materials, mechanical, surface, analytical, and electrochemical characterizations

· 
Develop methods as required to support CtQ activities

· 
Develop and select appropriate characterization methods to understand and minimize processes and components variability

· 
Support methods development, documentation and execution for validation and verification efforts

· 
Participate in requirements generation through formal design development procedures from customer requirements through unit specifications

· 
Write technical reports and documentations, present findings to internal and external audiences as necessary

· 
Generate documentation and studies required to support the formal development process defined by the designated Quality Management System

· 
Support field and internal investigations

· 
Design treatment and process splits in support of yield, reliability, efficiency and quality improvements

· 
Collaborate with other team members in a wide range of activities, including, but not limited to execution or sample preparation for: failure analysis, material, surface, electrochemical, biocompatibility, mechanical characterizations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS:

· 
BS or MS in Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Engineering, or Natural Science major preferred

· 
3-5 years of industrial experience with BS and 1+ of experience with MS is preferred

· 
Sound knowledge in materials, mechanical, surface, analytical, and electrochemical characterizations

· 
Expertise in design of experiments, data analysis, and statistics (JMP, Minitab, etc.)

· 
Proficiency with programming languages for data analysis (R, python) is preferred

· 
Expertise in materials selection and compatibility, biocompatibility

· 
Hands on experience working in laboratory environment

· 
Self-starter and excellent verbal and written communication skills

· 
Experienced with platform based biochemical assays, with a strong preference for a NGS based platform, including instrument, chips and reagent
