Principal Industrial Designer

The Diagnostics UX Consulting & Servicesdepartment is a continuously growing team distributed over several development sites. It currently consists of more than 20 professional UX experts with diverse backgrounds. We provide a broad spectrum of UX design from context research to usability testing and support a wide range of projects (embedded, mobile, desktop, web) during the whole development process and beyond.

Key responsibilities include

·  Support and guidance of multiple project teams in questions of industrial design to ensure a common look and feel of our products and platforms.
·  Briefing, supervision and guidance of multiple design agencies and coordination between project teams and agency.
·  Elaboration of hardware and interaction design concepts together with customer and business representatives, usability engineers and development teams.
·  Support project teams to implement UX design guidelines; contribution to continuous advancement of design guidelines.
·  Alignment of industrial design guidelines across departments, sites, and external vendors.
·  Planning and execution of usability evaluations on hardware and software mockups incl. creation of hardware mockups and assessment of ergonomic factors.
·  Application of the full usability engineering process in development projects from early concept phases to post launch activities.
·  Education and coaching of other professionals in the area.
·  Management of multiple stakeholders, promotion and strategic development of the UX discipline within the department and the division.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you bring along a Bachelor/Master in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, or other comparable profession.

Additionally:

·  Education in Human Computer Interaction Design, Human Factors or comparable education
·  Profound experience in Industrial Design and Design Management incl. common manufacturing processes and color & material expertise
·  Profound experience in coaching and moderating peers and stakeholders
·  Positive attitude towards people, ability to connect to a wide range of personalities, a good sense of humor
·  Proactive problem solver with a high degree of self-organization, active information collector and connector
·  Fluent in English, German is an advantage

What is a plus?

·  Experience in multiple methodologies like contextual inquiry, task analysis, usability testing, usability evaluation, interaction design, prototyping and workshop facilitation
·  Working experience in highly regulated (healthcare, defense, avionics) as well as multicultural environments
