Internship Opportunity: Biochemistry Department, pRED LMR

Position: Biochemistry Intern (Full-Time Internship)

Duration: 6 Months

Location: pRED LMR Biochemistry Department, Roche Penzberg

Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) organization is at the forefront of innovative science, aiming to solve some of the most complex challenges in healthcare. Within pRED, the Large Molecule Research (LMR) unit is dedicated to the discovery and development of groundbreaking biopharmaceuticals. Our Biochemistry Department is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team for a six-month study-integrated internship.

Internship Overview:

The successful candidate will be involved in the development of a high-throughput method for the concentration of protein solutions. This project is critical to enhancing our biotherapeutic development processes. The intern will also analyze the physicochemical properties of the solutions and their behavior post-concentration by measuring viscosity, self-interaction, and aggregation tendencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize methods for concentrating protein solutions.

• Perform physicochemical characterization of protein solutions.

• Analyze the impact of concentration on protein solution properties such as viscosity, self-interaction, and aggregation.

• Record, analyze, and present data in a clear and concise manner.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers.

• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.

• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology.

• Previous experience with spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques, such as HPLC and DLS, is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in relevant IT tools, including MS Office suite.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
