A key goal is to advance basic science and technologies to be shared in scientific publications and patent applications, as needed.
As an RPF Fellow in Roche Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development, you will focus on exploratory research of long-acting delivery technologies for large molecule drug candidates with application to eye diseases. This project is jointly mentored by the Large Molecule Research and Pharmaceutical Sciences departments. We are now looking for an extraordinary, highly motivated, and talented Postdoc to join our team in an outstanding scientific environment.
In this position you will be responsible for the following topics:
Establishing in vitro methods for the assessment of complex matrices and tissues of the eye
Studying the capacity of eye tissues for delivery of therapeutic proteins and the changes associated with age and disease
Investigating the diffusion behavior of large molecule (antibody) drug candidates in eye tissues of different species, including human, and the relation to biophysical and functional properties
Generating rich and high quality in vitro datasets that you will analyze with statistical and mechanistic modeling approaches
Extracting quantitative insights to inform the translation from in vitro to in vivo and from animal to human
The requirements for this position:
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist who possesses solid experience in the laboratory. Therefore, you bring the following for this position:
Significant experience in biophysical analytical methods with solid experimental and scientific expertise in fluorescence correlation spectroscopy or related technologies
Experience with statistical analysis and pharmacokinetic/dynamic modeling. Education in applied mathematics, physics, modeling and simulation is of advantage
Fluency in spoken and written English
A substantial track record of scientific publications and presentations
A dedicated, hands-on attitude and curiosity to establish innovative experimental and modeling techniques
Furthermore, you have been actively engaged in scientific research continuously since your PhD (MD or MD/PhD)
You have very good interpersonal and communication skills
You are able to build good working relationships and are an outstanding teammate
Your experience and investigative attitude allows you to work independently and to design, perform, and interpret experiments
The duration of the fellowship
The duration of the RPF fellowship is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based at the Roche Innovation Center Munich with regular visits to our headquarters in Basel. You will also be connected with our academic partners who will share the mentorship of this project.
