About the position
A skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer well-versed in the technologies, tools, principles, and concepts associated with a specific technology domain, capable of applying them to address business challenges.
They possess the foundational skills and a commitment to evolve into T-shaped engineers, able to gain expertise and delve deeply into their specific technology domain while simultaneously exploring and learning broadly in other related infrastructure technologies
Proficient in designing and implementing test-driven infrastructure, continuous deployment pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
As an Associate Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and advancement of Device platforms, primarily focusing on Mac. This platform is integral to Roche globally, serving over 10,000 users, requiring expertise in device management platforms such as Jamf or Intune.
You will collaborate with a highly skilled engineering team based in Madrid and South San Francisco to deliver the most tailored and effective experience for Roche users.
Your key responsibilities:
Specializing in the Mac OS platform initially:
Ensure that technologies within their designated infrastructure align with and adhere to the organization's architectural technical strategy, policies, standards, and direction.
Guarantee that implemented technologies comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of best practices and IT operations for an always-up, always-available service, applying Scrum and Agile methodologies.
Provide technical recommendations and contribute to best practices, position papers, and white papers for infrastructure technologies and use cases within their designated technology areas.
Stay abreast of operational challenges and opportunities, collaborating with support team staff to offer internal escalation support as needed, contributing to the resolution of incidents and major issues.
Support the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for designs, design patterns, and component standards.
Work autonomously and/or under the supervision of more senior peers.
Assist and support in creating end-to-end designs for infrastructure technologies and contribute to the creation and maintenance of related standards.
Evaluate promising technologies within their technology domain through proofs of concept (PoCs), guided by their feasibility in meeting Roche's business needs.
Design, build, test, and implement (first-time deployments) integrated, resilient, and reliable technologies within their respective technology area.

Ability to collaborate efficiently with team members and virtual teams across diverse locations and cultural backgrounds
Inherent aptitude for problem-solving and decision-making
Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
Possessing foundational knowledge in the following technical skills:
Python or equivalent programming languages
Distributed version control and source code management tools: GIT, GitHub, or equivalent
Public Cloud technologies: AWS or Azure
Mobile Device Management platforms (e.g., Jamf Pro)
