Job description

·  Job facts

This position is part of the Internship programme Think Tank in Innovation and Sustainability (#IP2TIS). Innovation is key for Roche and our society in general. With this programme we want to provide you as an early in career talent the opportunity to work and experiment on innovative ideas in a safe and supportive environment. Together with Roche colleagues in Pharma or Diagnostics you can contribute to solve real challenges around Science, Technology, Society andSustainability.

This position will include an exclusive curriculum of on-the-job and off-the-job training, as well as sessions with Roche senior leaders.

The internship project is about rethinking our manufacturing processes to enable us to supply drugs to patients based on an individual demand (personalized healthcare). What we need is a technology that fills 1,5 ml for patient A and 1.7 ml for patient B, without tuning of the filling equipment, waste or inaccuracy - totally reliable - right the first time. This will bring drugs to more patients as it uses the API efficiently, it can reduce the cost in the healthcare system, because less drugs are wasted. It helps us to increase drug safety (no accidental under / overdose) and it reduces the risk of microbiological contamination or misuse. NO DRUG WASTED is so impactful because the remaining drug in a container is very valuable in terms of the energy and labor invested into it. Complex drugs like ADC´s or antibodies go through so many energy consuming manufacturing steps that wasting them at the end of the value chain must be reflected very critically.

Overall this project is presented as a small, but important mosaic stone needed to paint the big picture of individualized healthcare in the future. The Enabling Technology Home in Pharmaceutical Development Europe would like to prepare the manufacturing technology for the next generation of personalized healthcare drugs that are already in our pipeline

"Let us re-shape sustainability and ensure a long-lasting effect on society."
