Engineering Laboratory Support Coordinator (Primarily Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead)

As part of Roche's commitment to continued patient care, we are now recruiting for a Laboratory Services Coordinator and are inviting applications from Medical support industry or similar with experience in diagnostic service / engineering support and with an ambition to develop their technical, commercial knowledge and skills .

This new position is a superb opportunity for the successful candidate to provide dedicated support to pan-pathology laboratories primarily Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead. You will provide frontline support across a variety of analytical systems covering mostly technical engineering/IT as well as coordinate application support.

Introduction to Roche Diagnostics

You will join a team of over 200 field and office based Roche Diagnostics Limited employees in Technical Services, based strategically across the UK and Ireland who work in areas such as engineering, applications, IT and Workflow services.

We are a very dynamic organisation that operates across all business areas within the pathology diagnostic services and have a philosophy through daily interactions, including commercial, technical and Managed Laboratory Services activities of OneRoche. In this respect, you will be part of a close-knit cross functional team liaising closely with other field based colleagues as well as our Regional Customer Support Center and other Business Areas.

Scope of the role

In this role, you will have a key responsibility in the organizing and delivery of training and developing laboratory employees in the optimum use of our solutions, and ensure all staff records are maintained.

Working with other Roche experts you will be responsible for supporting and advising system configuration, reagent consumption, assay performance and on-going workflow and optimization studies.

A key part of your role will be preventative maintenance, primary troubleshooting of hardware, software and supporting applications problems, taking ownership of on-going issues and acting as an escalation pathway and liaison point for any technical interventions.

You would be required to participate in Technical Review and Quality meetings with all customer key stakeholders and overall provide an outstanding level of service delivery from Roche DiagnostiEcs Limited.

This is a field based position: Primarily supporting Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead. Based at the specified site, you would have technical responsibility for all laboratory sites within the group and will have the opportunity to support sites in the surrounding area.

To be considered for this role, you must reside within reasonable daily travel distance for the sites.

Desired profile

Who you are

ONC/HND/Degree educated or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, you will have experience of working within a modern laboratory environment or similar.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be resilient, tenacious and both adaptable and flexible to work within an ever evolving environment. You will have some understanding of the barriers to acceptance of new solutions and be able to drive positive outcomes and drive project implementation.

With a confident working approach, you have a strong desire to continually improve and be at the forefront of exciting new assays and techniques. Passionate to improve and shape successful patient outcomes, you will be able to deliver superior customer service to our customer base and excel in the art of troubleshooting, taking ownership and pride in your work.

In addition, the following skills/experience will be desirable:

·  Good Presentation skills
