“Small Molecules Technical Development” (PTDC) brings a broad range of experience across drug substance (DS), drug product (DP), and analytical sciences, and collaborates closely with key partners in the departments Research and Early Development (pRED / gRED), Small Molecules (PTC) and PTD. PTDC is responsible for late stage technical development of our small molecules (SM) pipeline and the manufacture of DS and DP for clinical studies across our SM manufacturing network.

This position is part of the Drug Product Small Molecules Development organization, reporting to a Section Head Formulation and Process Sciences. As a Biopharmaceutical Scientist you support the members of the department for Pharmaceutical Research and Development in the development of innovative and stable oral dosage forms (standard, drug delivery systems) for new chemical entities in all clinical phases including market formulation and process development by developing and applying biopharmaceutical test methods. In addition you build up new tailored methods to leverage scientific based development approaches for the projects (e.g. to support formulation and manufacturing technology selection).

Responsibilities include:

· 
Establish innovative biopharmaceutical test methods and test systems to support the development of oral dosage forms

· 
Search actively for new analytical tools

· 
Develop physiologically-based pharmacokinetic models

· 
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to support the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms for NCEs (e.g. collaborate with colleagues from Small Molecules Research, Late Stage Drug Product Analytical Development)

· 
Author and review technical reports, patent applications, parts of regulatory submissions to support filing and publication

· 
Contribute to the portfolio of Small Molecules-Drug Product manufacturing technologies and innovation

Your Profile

The successful candidate holds an advanced degree in pharmaceutical technology or pharmaceutical sciences with a background in biopharmaceutical test methods. Additional experience in drug product development of oral dosage forms would be of advantage.

In addition you meet the following requirements:

Willingness to travel occasionally

Good communication skills with proficiency in German and English
