SUMMARY An exciting opportunity exists for a Benefits Associate on a permanent basis to join a friendly team based in Long Island City, New York. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company benefit plans to include, but not limited to: Health and Welfare; and 401k/Pension plans. You will provide excellent customer service to employees, HR, and retirees. GENERAL DUTIES The General Duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following: • Oversee all aspects of Benefits Administration (Health & Welfare, 401K, a grand-fathered frozen pension plan, and voluntary benefits) for over 23,000 designated benefits eligible employees within the US • Provide direction/support for employee leaves and disability related transactions to include, but not limited to, meeting with employee and coordinating, FMLA, STD, and additional time off with management, HR and payroll • Maintain paperwork and files for employee’s benefits record • Conduct Benefits Orientation for new acquisition groups as well as one on one meeting’s for executives • Answer Benefit Service Center hotline/check benefits emails at designated time and assist with employee/retiree questions. • Provide instruction to employee/HR regarding the online employee self-service system • Liaison with the applicable insurance carriers to resolve employee/dependent issues/claims or to execute a haste enrollment. • Assist with open enrollment meetings/presentations, travel when needed. • Review ADP weekly changes report (IVR report). Request backup documentation when necessary for qualifying events (i.e., birth, marriage) and new hires. Manually update benefit deductions with payroll as needed • Assist as needed with frozen Pension plan • Reconcile and process monthly benefit billing if needed • Assist with monthly departmental report processing (i.e. termination reports, retiree eligibility) • Stay abreast of trends and changes in benefit rules and regulations. • Create and generate PeopleSoft queries as needed • Responsible for HIPAA compliance • Handle special projects as assigned SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED The Skills and Abilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following: • Knowledge of Health and Welfare Benefit Plans • Computer knowledge • Written and verbal communication skills • Interpersonal skills • Self-starter • Attention to detail • Math/Accounting aptitude • Billing/401K funding experience a plus EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION The Experience and Education qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to the following: • Bachelor’s Degree of 1 – 3 years of experience in Benefits Administration • Experience with PeopleSoft Tools 8.9, Lotus & Microsoft Office • Experience with vendor specific software (i.e. PSW, OBA, etc.)
