Our Reading Plant manufactures Gillette and Old Spice products, some of the world's most popular shaving preparations, deodorants and anti-perspirants and our Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories play a very important part in upholding our immaculate standards. Here, our Technicians have a meaningful role analysing raw materials, intermediates and finished product to demonstrate quality compliance and allow release of finished product. Day-to-day this involves: sampling, testing, calibration, data analysis, problem-solving and also ownership of a quality system and/or lab equipment.

Lab Technicians work on a 12-hour rotating shift pattern (averaging 37 hrs a week) mirroring the manufacturing operation. You'd be expected to flow between both the Chemistry and Microbiology labs depending on the work required day-to-day.

If you can demonstrate these capabilities we'd love to hear from you ...

·  Analytical Chemistry within an analytical laboratory setting or Microbiology to include aseptic techniques, organism isolation and identification, manufacturing equipment clean design, bio-safety, and Microbiology laboratory operations.

·  A team contributor who can make positive inputs to everyday problem solving, communicate optimally both with the QA team and other teams within the Plant.
·  Draw data from a wide variety of sources to find resolutions to drive the team forward.
·  Make timely decisions with regards to results and reporting to minimise the impact on product release.
·  Sort through microbiological or analytical data to identify risks and trends and determines solutions in a timely manner.
·  Can identify deviations from quality standards and take appropriate action.
·  Follow Good Laboratory Practices and all standards rigorously.
·  Finds improvement opportunities in operational and lab processes
·  Can adapt to the changing conditions in day-to-day workload, and will flow to work in either lab as required.
·  Loves to learn new skills and take ownership for driving their own personal growth and development
·  Holds a Microbiology, Chemistry qualification or general science qualification with laboratory experience
