Job Description
Purpose of role: The planning of European non-core transport activity ensuring proactive, cost efficient and service focused operations.
Reports to: European Transport Operations Manager
Location: Islip, Northamptonshire
Key Responsibilities:
· Allocation and communication of transport orders to subcontractors
· Ensuring the timely execution of collection and delivery plans in line with network SLA’s
· Collating and compiling key data in relation to trailer movements, costs, optimisation and utilisation
· Proactive management of hauliers, suppliers and network depots demonstrating a customer focused and partnership approach
· Ensure haulier compliance (Health and Safety, legal, process and service levels) are actively managed
· Ensuring haulier spend is justified and in line with financial expectations. Constantly thrive to optimise costs and beat budget
· Arranging and planning collections from UK and European suppliers ensuring optimisation of available resource
· Planning of all associated European Control Tower orders from internal and external sources
· Updating invoice system and ensuring invoice accuracy
· Identify efficiencies within operation and support improvement initiatives
· Working in unison with other colleagues / departments to optimise network operation
· Attend haulier business review meetings on site and off site
Knowledge, skills experience:
· CPC National and International qualification
· Good knowledge of current EU transport legislation
· Experience of large multi-site / network operations
· Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
· Interpersonal skills - discreet, trustworthy and have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
· A flexible approach to work and be capable of managing priorities.
· Track record and knowledge of Domestic and European transport operations
· Retail or other fast paced environments desirable
· Excellent all round problem solving & influencing skills
· Ability to work on own initiative
· Commercially focused considering end to end costs
· The ideal individual will have:
· Ability to work cross functionally within a team
· Operational experience within a road transport environment.
· Knowledge of transport legislation and operational challenges (e.g. driving bans etc.)
