Machinery Design & Construction Engineer

Reports directly to the of Machinery, Design and Construction Manager.

MISSION

·  The Machinery Design & Construction Engineer is responsible to ensure a common approach to solving machinery and or process problems, through the development of Best practices.
·  The knowledge learned is to be documented and shared across the Corporation.
·   This will help to reduce individual facility resources’ time spent solving the same problems simultaneously, or successively. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Ensure a common approach to solving machinery and or process problems, through the development of Best practices.
·  Develop specifications for manufacturing solutions for area of responsibility. This work to include required R&D to create manufacturing solutions for new products.
·  To support new programs activities for INPro phases 1, 2, & 3 along with the facilities as a guide or mentor type position.
·  To audit equipment builds that are being lead by plants to ensure compliance with WW Standards

ACTIVITIES

·  To audit equipment builds that are being lead by plants to ensure compliance with WW Standards
·  Conduct supplier development meetings as required to improve the reliability of equipment plus the investigation of new technology that can improve POAI competitive position.
·  Support of the WW Standardization process through the development of Knowledge Management documentation for either equipment or processes in the area of responsibility.
·  Assist Product Engineering personnel in evaluating new product designs, with considerations of ability to mass produce. Coordinate the appropriate manufacturing simulation testing of new product designs of complete units, or attached / otherwise integrated components.
·  Develop, standardize, and revise specifications, processes, and INstand applications.
·  Provide assistance and / or input to new Product programs, as requested by each Program, for the related technology.
·  Assist with Continuous improvement events as required such as Team Feasibility or Six Sigma.

PROFILE REQUIRED

Personal Background

·  Bachelor degree required.  Engineering Degree preferred - minimum Technology Degree.
·  Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

 

Skills and Abilities

·  Experience in plastic injection process, plant floor, assembly equipment, steel welding or maintenance
·  Experience working with suppliers, strongly preferred
·  Experience in TPS or Deming process, preferred
·  Experience in equipment construction, preferred.
·  Experience in Lean manufacturing systems and process
·  At ease and effective in a matrix, multicultural and fast evolving environment
·  Work requires standing, walking, bending, stooping and sitting
·  Ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally as required.  (Ability to acquire and maintain a valid passport)
