Your challenge
Are you the enthusiastic, talented apprentice we’re looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit 2 bright Field Technical Engineering Apprentices into our 2 year Apprenticeship Program in Philips Lighting. This is an incredible opportunity to join a global brand that is leading the innovations in lighting. The apprentices will be enrolled with Farnborough College and will aim to successfully complete an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering – Electronic/Electrical pathway during the Program.
Your responsibilities
· Able to register complaints/issues within the Service Management System
· With the support of the Field Engineers, ability to fault find both within a workshop environment and in the field
· Ability to transpose fault finding conclusions and resolution taken to enable quality reporting both internally and externally to the customer
· Learn how to complete electrical test to complete root cause analysis
· Compliance with industry best practice when working with electrical and electronic systems
· Gain a full understanding of the 17th Edition IEE Regulations
· To become fully conversant with the latest lighting technology and their application
· To gain full knowledge of the application, programming and commissioning of lighting control systems
· Learn how to complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements
· Gain full understanding of the different industry accreditation systems
· Become fully conversant with Health and Safety best practices
· Complete and undertake specific safety training, e.g. working at heights, MEWP, CSCS, Use of harnesses etc.
Your team
You will sit in the Technical Field Services and the Digital Services teams where they learn about all technical aspects of lighting and their controls, including fault finding, commissioning, installation, quality investigations, surveys and much more.
The Area of Services within Philips Lighting work across all lighting businesses, where we offer professional customers expert advice in Project Services and Lifecycle Services and we monitor and police the quality of our products investigating product related complaints working with all our factories across the world to ensure our high standards are maintained within the, market place.

Our offer
The ultimate aim of the Field Technical Engineer Apprenticeship Program is to train and develop the apprentices as a Lighting Field Engineer having full knowledge of all lighting and lighting controls solutions. You will also have a full understanding of the technology and their application and you will be able to fault find and remedy any failures both within a workshop environment and at customer sites.
· Duration: 2 years
· Available per 1st of September 2015
We are looking for
To be successful in this apprenticeship we are looking for candidates:
· Who are currently studying or wanted to study towards a further education qualification at Farnborough College in:
o Engineering and /or
o Mathematics & Science
· Full driving license as you will be required to travel.
· 3 A-Levels including excellent mathematics and numeracy
· Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work and contribute within a team environment.
· Good planning and organizational skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Self-motivated with proven ability to apply themselves
· Good IT skills and the ability to learn new technologies and systems.
· High level of attention to detail.
