Job description

Havana Club International S.A. is looking for a VIE to work with the Industrial Director to reinforce the follow up of its industrial investments and projects, to follow up operations and supply chain meetings, and to seize growth opportunity further to recent announcement about the normalization of Cuban American relations.
Job background
Job based in Cuba, at the Havana Club rum factory near Havana, hierarchically reporting to the Industrial Director, the VIE industrial direction will be working on both the daily operational activities of the Havana Club factory (including logistics and supply chain) and the industrial project of expansion currently ongoing. He will play a key part in:
- ensuring the continuity of operations with all the departments involved (direction, insurance, bottling, ageing, logistics, supply chain…)
- following the good progress of the plant expansion project with the dedicated project team
- helping the finance department in the reporting and steering of Havana Club operations by providing key insights and analyses on the plants activities
It is a unique position working closely with the operational teams of the factory, including the Maestro Ronero (Master Blender), and assisting the Industrial Director on a daily basis. The unique exposition to operations and project management requires the successful candidate to be quickly autonomous in order to succeed in this position.
Main missions
The general missions of the VIE Industrial Direction will be
1.Operational activities
To integrate the operational teams at the Havana Club factory in order to maintain the continuity and smoothness of operations:
- Actively participate and contribute to regular meetings held in the rum factory: production meetings, COMEX (the VIE will join the COMEX of the rum factory), Investments meetings etc… The VIE will need to gain rapidly enough autonomy in order to moderate these meetings and be able to synthetize key decisions taken and resulting action plan.
- Update and follow-up the action log aiming at resolving operational issues to ensure the continuity of the production
- Ensure the correct providing of information and payments of insurance policies throughout the year
- Lead ad-hoc requests from the Industrial Director (study on operational efficiency, status of ageing stocks …)
2.Industrial Projects and Investments
To actively participate into main strategic projects for the company that will happen in the next few years, as a non-permanent member of the DIP (Direccion Integrada de Proyecto, team dedicated to the industrial expansion project):
- Participation with the dedicated project team in the long term investment plan
- Consolidation of the long term investment plan
- Follow up of changes in needs and phasing
- Prepare, animate and follow-up the regular COMINV (Investments Committee) meetings on the long-term investment plan and advancement of the Industrial Project (plant expansion)
- Daily follow-up of the advancements of contracts and works occurring during the industrial projects carried out by Havana Club
- Follow up of the general schedule of projects (studies, tender, contracts, construction, delivery) in collaboration with the engineering services providers
- Follow up of meetings and official documents (contracts mainly) with service providers, in collaboration with the legal services in Cuba and in Paris
- Follow up on the importation of goods and services in Cuba in liaison with Cuban logistics (HCI national logistic department)
- Treatment and recording of invoices and payments of international contractors
- Synthesis for the management on the progress and bottlenecks of the project, in collaboration with the engineering service providers
3.Industrial and Financial link
To make the link with the Control and Finance teams (both at the factory and in the head office in Havana) on specific points:
- Financial reporting exercise for Pernod Ricard: being able to help in understanding the trends and situation of factory-specific metrics (ageing stocks, costs of production …)
- Main contributor in strategic HCI meetings preparations such as Shareholder’s meetings or annual strategical review
- Contribute to ad hoc analyses initiated by the finance departments (Value creation, modellisation of value of future stocks etc…)

Others
- VIE position offered for a duration of 18 months, with possibility of an extension of 6 months
- Driver’s license mandatory. The position will be based in the San José factory, approximatively 45 minute drive from Havana where the VIE will be living. Occasional meetings will be held at the head offices in Havana.
- Languages skills: Spanish & English. French is a plus.
- Housing, car rental + gas and phone will be paid by the company
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree
