Job Description

·  Use strategic thinking to define suitable technical objectives and hypotheses for sensory & consumer research work and develop robust research plans.
·  Provide quality insights and interpretation based on both Qualitative & Quantitative research with consumers for both existing and future R&D projects. Working with key stakeholders to define upcoming research requirements.
·  Work with SCPI peers and external agency partners to ensure that required external resources are available and allocated and appropriate test designs are set and deployed to best practice requirements.
·  Receiving raw data from external agencies and providing robust interpretation of research results and key next steps to R&D technologists/team managers/market heads and external raw material suppliers.
·  Work with R&D teams to ensure samples are provided with appropriate documentation e.g. ingredient declarations/food safety and have passed any analytical and expert panel pre-screening before being placed in testing.
·  Development of new testing methodologies to support a changing business agenda and diverse product portfolio.
·  Contribute to the global SCPI agenda through active participation in prioritised global work groups.

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Psychology, Food Science, Sensory science) with a strong theoretical background in test design, research methodologies & statistical analysis techniques
·  Previous experience in a consumer research/insights role preferably in an FMCG environment
·  Knowledge of product testing methodologies with strong background in Quantitative research methods
·  Strong analytical skills – ability to interpret complex data and distill into useful and actionable information.
·  Knowledge of statistical analysis methods
·  Strong IT skills, able to learn new systems quickly and to apply them in a fast moving business environment.
·  Good understanding/appreciation of the broader business environment and application of technical and commercial knowledge.
·  Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and negotiate effectively across all levels and all functions of the organisation.
·  Good presentation skills (written & verbal).
·  Cultural sensitivity/flexibility in responding to different cultures.
·  Self-starter, self-motivating – very high drive for results and able to deal with uncertainty and complexity.
·  Strong networker internally and externally
