Job description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in high availability, virtualized networks, and packet processing. You will lead software architecture, design, and development for VPN services that securely connect customer's to Oracle's Cloud. It's still early in the lifecycle so you'll need to be good at defining long term scalable architectures, leading small teams of cross-functional engineers, and developing software that delivers customer value. Mandatory Qualifications:

· 2+ years distributed systems software development

· 2+ years network programming (packet processing, firewalls, vpn, etc.)

· Proficient in Java

· Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Hardware Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

· Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, problem solving, algorithm design and analysis

· Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, etc.

· Experience with at least two scripting languages such as python, perl, ruby, or powershell

· Expert skill in one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python, Perl and proficiency with one other programming language

· Excellent judgment in influence for product roadmap direction, features, and priorities
