An experienced consulting professional who has a broad understanding of solutions, industry best practices, multiple business processes or technology designs within a product/technology family. Operates independently to provide quality work products to an engagement. Performs varied and complex duties and tasks that need independent judgment, in order to implement Oracle products and technology to meet customer needs. Applies Oracle methodology, company procedures, and leading practices.

Applies Oracle methodology, company procedures, and leading practices. Demonstrates expertise to deliver functional and technical solutions on moderately complex customer engagements. May lead the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget. May act as the team lead on projects, providing coaching, guidance and feedback to develop skills of team members. Effectively consults with management of customer organizations. Participates in business development activities. Develops and leads detailed solutions for moderately complex projects.

6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 3-4 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel as needed.

The role of a Cloud / On Premise DBA is an active and rewarding part of the UK and Ireland Technology Consulting team. We're looking for talented and resourceful Oracle DBAs with 5+ years' experience to join our team. You'll be working to deliver robust and innovative solutions for customers with the most demanding database workloads. You'll need excellent technical skills, a flexible and can-do approach, a laser focus on customer success, and a hunger to learn. Working with us, you'll deepen your experience and develop your DBA skills to industry-leading levels.

Key activities for this role

• Design and build Oracle database platforms to the highest standards of availability, resilience, performance, integrity and security
• Demonstrate technical expertise and leadership both to your Oracle colleagues and to customers
• Work with customer representatives – technical and non-technical – to create solutions that meet their business and non-functional requirements, always advocating for the best use of Oracle technologies
• Work alongside Oracle, customer and third-party project teams to deliver effective solutions
• Work with Oracle account teams to identify and pursue opportunities to upsell additional features and products
• Support and drive adoption of Oracle Cloud technologies
• Represent Oracle to our customers, and protect our reputation and our commercial interests
• Develop and deepen your own product knowledge, technical skills and industry experience
• Grow your personal network across our organisation and beyond
• Share your knowledge and your enthusiasm for our products, both with Oracle colleagues and with customers
• Grow our capability in Oracle Consulting to deliver industry-leading solutions for our customers



Essential skills

• Five years plus hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA
• Expert knowledge of key database and related technologies including RAC, Data Guard and Engineered Systems
• Good hands-on experience of backup/recovery with RMAN
• Detailed practical experience of platform design for large database workloads
• Good knowledge Unix/Linux operating systems
• Comfortable on the command line with Oracle and OS tools
• Ability to read and understand SQL and PL/SQL
• Diagnosis and tuning of performance management issues at database and platform level
• Good knowledge of key database technologies for security and data integrity
• Complex analysis and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work alone, as well as in a close collaborative team, both locally and remotely
• Current driving licence and flexibility to travel to working locations across the UK and sometimes overseas

The ideal candidate will also have experience with:

• Oracle PaaS and IaaS services
• Oracle packaged applications (E-Business Suite, Peoplesoft, Siebel, etc)
• Oracle middleware, integration and data migration products (WebLogic, SOA Suite, ODI, GoldenGate, etc)
• Management & monitoring via Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Database lifecycle management and automation
