Job description

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Your Contribution

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications to supporting the growing product offerings available within the Oracle Service Cloud. It should be child's play to specify, design and implement modest changes to the existing software architecture to meet changing needs. And you can use your real brainpower to figure out how to make improvements in our process, our coding practices, our patterns, and our final shipping product.

You will be working in the Oracle RightNow! Development, a global organization within the Oracle Service Cloud division. We need smart creative developers to face the challenges of continually improving the Oracle Service Cloud.

As the Oracle RightNow! Product grew, billing and compliance for session based usage within the product was becoming increasingly complex. The ability to record user actions across products, which may be hosted on different domains, if and only if those products are considered part of the same billing group was needed. This capability became the Action Capture Service (ACS). You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for all aspects of our ACS service. ACS is a secure cloud service for tracking customer usage data. The team works in an environment where security and performance is of paramount importance.

What is Needed

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 2+ years of software engineering, with an emphasis in all aspects of Java development.

Primary Responsibilities
Wicked coder, led by example with the highest level of coding standards. Gaining real working experience with Hadoop and Scala.
Coordinate with product owners, designers and the quality teams.

Skills & Other Job Requirement
- BS/MS in Computer Science with 7+ years of relevant experience in developing web or enterprise business application
- Experience with Hadoop, MapReduce, REST/JSON
- Expertise is a must (Functional Programming, Scala experience would be a bonus, but not necessary)
- Excellent architectural & coding skills
- Well versed with the complete software development life cycle from requirement analysis to design, development and maintenance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently
- Candidate must be comfortable in a virtual/global team environment
- Self motivated with the can-do attitude. Proven track record to deliver quality solution in a fast paced environment

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform detailed design based on provided high level design specifications. Assist in system planning, scheduling and implementation. Build enhancements (including new product features) and resolve bugs. Build and execute unit test and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Interact with QA and porting engineering about problems in the code.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
