The Role
A Senior Design Engineer is required by the Omexom Transmission Business Unit to play a key part of our organisational success, ensuring commitments to our customers are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
The job holder will have a consistent track record of project delivery along with demonstrable experience in developing diverse teams.
Reporting to the Design Manager, duties will include, but are not limited to:
- To assist the Design Manager with appointing and provide training where necessary and manage design staff in an efficient manner.
- Business development with DNOs and TSOs, including prospecting, tendering and delivering design services.
- The management of all design elements within tender and construction phases of construction contracts.
- Representing Omexom UK within the global Omexom engineering network/clubs
- Review and cascading of current industry standards.
- Promote Safety, Health and Environmental awareness of all design staff.
- Ensure the quality of ALL design submissions.
- Discharging the responsibilities of the Designer under the CDM regulations.
Desired profile
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Ability to take responsibility for all design elements of new build and refurbishment of overhead transmission lines in the UK
- Ability to develop the Omexom overhead line design capability to provide services to the DNO
- and TSO markets
- Preferable BSc/BEng in Structural or Civil Engineering with 15 Years OHL design and construction industry experience.
- Must have a detailed understanding of the latest OHL design practices, standards and analysis software systems.
- Must have suitable site experience / understanding, which should include foundation setting out and construction, structure assembly and erection, conductor erection and temporary works.
