The Local Technical Consultant will serve as smart card and related software expert providing vision and leadership in applying smart card technologies developed by Oberthur Technologies. He/she will analyze customer and market application / system needs and determine how the Oberthur technologies may be used to meet those needs in the Payment market in the United States.
The position is based in Chantilly, about 30 km from Washington.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Sales:
- Provide technical expertise (including training sessions) to sales forces and customers
- Customer visits, training and consulting
Technical Project management:
- For specific projects launched by customers, coordinate actions and departments involved in a new product development (R&D, Tech Support, Sales, industrial sites)
Internal Support:
- Provide backup support to other technical team members, assisting with documentation, information and training to support customers and partners.
Technical Account Management:
- Technical lead for EMV (EuroPay Mastercard Visa) product development which involves chip profile definition and development, key management, and definition of chip personalization specification.
- Develop and maintain relationships and projects with customers and partners as primary technical interface to various levels within the customer’s organisations.
- Involve technically in all internal departments (sales, customer service, pre-perso and perso engineering & production) activities, along with customer and external organisation (e.g. VISA, Mastercard), from the technical proposal of the solution until the deployment, including security and key management procedures
- Organise and conduct training sessions on Oberthur products and solutions, and assist with tender responses.
- Provide support for and supervision of change management, adhoc queries, technical consultancy, troubleshooting and day-to-day production issues related to your customer accounts.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Smart Card technologies: Java Card, MULTOS, EMV
- Cryptography technologies: Symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, DES/3DES/RSA
- Knowledge of payment Smart Card services highly desirable
- Able to provide consistency and accuracy in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work well independently or as a team
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Smart Card Technical Support Manager(Financial Services & Transport).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple (often extremely urgent) requests from customers
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English required
- French desired
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent technological experience. Master’s Degree or above a plus.
- Understanding of Smart Card, EMV and cryptography related technology
- Previous experience in technical / customer support and training desirable
- Required computer skills : Java, C/C++
- Desired computer skills: MFC, .NET, Excel Macros
