Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant role is to provide accurate and timely information which ensures management are able to make correct business decisions and are able to assess how the business is performing against expected targets and against previous performance Review and assess internal controls and procedures Compliance.

-Process financial close within reporting deadlines - including month end/year end journals - in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Alcon site procedures.
-Reconcile accounts, analyse variances & work with external auditors and corporate procedures/polices. Ensure all corporate requirements are completed within reporting deadlines.
-Internal Auditing - Formalise & drive a structured approach to internal control and perform audits. Assess & advise on the adequacy of internal controls throughout the facility.
-Prepare periodic and monthly financial reports to provide summarized analysis to management and provide financial analysis as needed to support management. To include the budget process & forecast revisions.
-Timely and accurate completion of all CSO, VAT, Corporation Tax, Return of Trading returns, statutory accounts and any other Government returns as required.
-Manage the company secretarial and treasury function ensuring compliance with local & corporate requirements.
-Project work including finance input to process & IT systems.
-Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon and Novartis QS requirements.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

•Professional Accountancy qualification, understanding of statutory financial requirements and Financial Reporting Standards.
•Good problem solving mentality, excellent communicator, strong team player with ability to simplify processes and problems.
•Ability to identify issues and work independently to interpret data and make decisions.
•Strong Financial accounting knowledge.
•Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook, plus strong knowledge of fully integrated accounting operating system – e.g. JDE, Oracle.

Education:
Minimum: Bachelor degree in a financial discipline and Member of recognized Accountancy body - e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA
Preferred: MBA Qualified and Member of recognized Accountancy body - e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA

Experience:
Minimum: 2-3 years accounting experience in a manufacturing industry using a computer based costing system
Preferred: 2 years pre-qualification in practice or industry, 2 years post qualification experience in Financial Accountant role in a pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
