We're currently looking for a Product Cost Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate for this position would have a manufacturing and / or engineering background with a strong interest in finance. They would be responsible for creating cost targets and supporting engineering / purchasing in achieving benchmark level costs. The position will provide an opportunity to work with a variety of vehicle components and present to all levels of cross functional management regionally, and globally. They will be an active member of the Product Development Team and work closely with Engineering to develop optimized design solutions ensuring best in class cost and function.

Job Functions

·  Analyze requirements and specifications of a part to determine the component and vendor tooling cost throughout the development process.
·  Identify and quantify cost elements, such as labor costs, material costs and production cycle times.
·  Cross functional meetings regionally, and globally, to identify best practices.
·  Support purchasing and engineering functions to ensure market leadership.
·  Participate in competitive benchmarking activities to generate cost reduction proposals.
·  Drive cost reductions with an analytical cost avoidance/savings mindset on purchased parts and vendor tooling.
·  Evaluate design options, develop best practices, procedures and innovative solutions to improve product cost.
·  Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and proposing work/process flow layout.
·  Occasional domestic and international travel to suppliers and other Nissan locations.

Minimum Requirements

·  1-3 Years of relevant experience related to the functions listed above.
·  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance or related discipline preferred
·  Proficient in MS Office Suite, familiar with special estimating software or programming skills would be a plus
·  Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and technical skills.
