We're currently looking for a Buyer I to join our team in Franklin, TN .

JOB FUNCTIONS

·  Manages sourcing activities for commodities.
·  Performs comparative analysis of competing suppliers in order to recommend the most competitive source for a specified commodity.
·  Negotiates and establishes commodity prices in support of the department's cost reduction goals.
·  Engages with end users of assigned commodities (client groups and/or engineers) to establish understanding of the requirements and specifications of commodities.
·  Plans, develops, implements, and maintains cost reduction plans.
·  Tracks and validates cost savings data.
·  Establishes, executes, and manages contracts for assigned commodities; issues and maintains purchase orders, and related purchasing records.
·  Coordinates activities between all departments and supplier base to ensure contract compliance and resolution of all major issues dealing with quality, cost, delivery, and design.
·  Updates databases and other records related to purchasing functions on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis for assigned commodities.
·  Supports requests from others for data creation, data confirmation, status updates, and other activities as needed.
·  Communicates with global counterparts to facilitate alignment of purchasing activities.
·  Engages in workflow improvement by developing analytical techniques for purchasing activities such as quote review and bundling analysis.
·  As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

·  Good understanding of purchasing sourcing and cost reduction, including quote analysis, benchmarking, and negotiation.
·  Knowledge of the automotive industry and assigned commodities are preferred.
·  Strong personal skills in: effective communication (written and oral), attention to detail, self-directed problem solving, building and maintaining professional relationships, and time/work management.
·  The ability to engage and adapt in a fast-paced work environment is essential.
·  One to three years of related experience at a professional level.
·  Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experiences. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, V Look Up), Word, and PowerPoint.
·  An ability to learn and utilize a variety of other computer applications.
